Self-Rescue Courses

Over the years I’ve taught a number of skills courses. Throughout that time I’ve winnowed away the extraneous information and figured out what people need to know and will remember during one busy 8-hour day. I’m now offering a series of streamlined skills courses focused on simple, easy-to-use systems that climbers can use regardless of the terrain they’re in.

Introduction to Self-Rescue

self-rescue4 This course, which focuses on simple systems for climber self-rescue, is something every climber should take. Learn new skills and gain the confidence to manage most small “crag” climbing emergencies. Techniques such as escaping the belay, climber pick-offs, simple raises and load transfers are introduced and practiced during this 8-hour course. 4:1, $150/person

Crevasse Rescue

aagc-baker-1 If you’re planning on doing any sort of glacier travel it’s good to understand crevasse rescue skills. Self arrest, load transfers, improvised rope ascension and improvised hauling systems are covered in this 8-hour course. This standalone course is also a good addition to the aforementioned Introduction to Self Rescue. 4:1, $150/person
