About Ryan Stefiuk

Born and raised in New Jersey, the land of endless suburbia, I somehow developed a love for the outdoors at a really young age. I discovered climbing towards the end of high school and have been hopelessly addicted ever since. For nearly a decade I remained semi-itinerant, climbing all over the country. I now make my home in Northampton, Massachusetts, where I’m centrally located, within a few hours of all the climbing in the New England and New York regions.

Bigfootmountainguides.com was born out of my desire to share my love of climbing with others, practice my writing skills and learn about web-design.The name comes, not from Sasquatch, but from my exceptionally long, bony size 15 feet.

Climbing, like some arts and many trades, is a pursuit that is learned through mentoring and a life-long training process. For so many of us climbing is more than a sport, it is a way of life. Tie into a rope, trust your life in your partner’s hands and afterward you may have a close friend for the rest of your days.

I love climbing, and have made the best of friends while out at the cliffs. It is my hope that this site becomes a solid resource and an inspiration for other climbers. Climbing has shaped and directed my life in such positive ways and I want to help others get out and explore all of the places there are to see.
